Hansun Index

National Advancement Index (NAI)
Korea ranks 28th in the National Advancement Index (NAI) 2013.
In 2008 the Hansun Foundation developed National Advancement Index (NAI) to measure the level of a country's advancement with indicators in five fields: economics, politics, society, culture and global contribution. NAI helps countries including the Republic of Korea to examine their level of advancement and recommends alternative policies for advancement. According to the NAI 2013, most of the top 10 ranked countries in the index are small countries in Europe. Korea, Japan, and China remained in the lower-middle ranks. Korea did manage to jump four points from 2008 to 28th place in the 2013 index. However, it still had the lowest among the NIC countries (Newly Industrializing Countries: Korea, Taiwan, HongKong, and Singapore).

Total National Power (TNP) Index
The TNP indexes indicated that South Korea ranked 9th in 2014.
The Hansun Foundation developed Total National Power (TNP) Index in 2009 and has been published with Chosun Ilbo every five year since. This is to examine all aspects of national power, and present tasks and strategies the nation should tackle to sharpen its competitiveness.
The Hansun Foundation compared G20 nations for its research. The TNP indexes indicated that South Korea ranked 13th in 2009 and 9th in 2014. The TNP Index is the result of a computation of 13 variables covering the economy, defense, diplomacy, education, technology and culture. The TNP Index covers indicators of both hard and soft power. Hard power encompasses natural resources, economic power, sciences, technology and information. Soft power is the combination of governance, political power, diplomacy, culture, credit standing and the capacity to cope with economic changes.
