INTEGRATION OF THE KOREAN PENINSULA:
FRAMEWORK FOR A POSITIVE FUTURE in the era of the EAST ASIA

I. PURPOSES

A. This conference is designed to posit the discussion on the issue of the integration of the Korean Peninsula onto the arena of the public debate, and also to clarify the conception of the Korean integration as part of the process of the overall advancement in the entire Korean Peninsula.

B. The event is also supposed to manifest that the integration of Korea is inevitable, desirable, and both feasible and manageable, contrary to the misconception that it is not a matter for imminent attention, and would turn out to be a disaster that stays beyond our capacity to control. Rather it will be ascertained that the integration of the Korean Peninsula would serve as the unprecedented moments of blessings for not only Korea, but the entire region of the North-East Asia through all the component of regional security, peace, affluence, and leaping growth that it would eventually bring together.

C. This gathering stresses that the task of the Korean integration should be placed initially upon the shoulder of South Korea, yet would be possibly accomplished when commissioned in close collaboration with neighboring states in the region and the international community. In this conference, keen attention should be given to the views of the high-level policy makers, and experts participating from concerned states with substantial stakes in the Korean integration. Focus will also be rendered on the actual subjects and features of the regional and international cooperation essential to the achievement of the integration in the Korean Peninsula in the age of the 21th century North-East Asia.

D. The conference is also meant to serve as the focal point for the like-minded experts bound by the common belief in the worth and inevitability of the Korean integration. Hence, the birthplace of the international forum that would continue to function as the roundtable for the regional and international dialogue until the day of the emergence of the Korean integration.


II. ATTRIBUTES OF EACH SESSION

SESSION 1
In this session, it will be shown that the integration of Korea is imminent, inevitable, desirable, and feasible. It will also be presented that the integration would bring in unexpected blessings both for the people in Korea, and those residents in this region as well, as it would usher in an age of unprecedented security and peace, progress and prosperity. Each feature of the Korean integration, i.e., politics, security, economic area, democracy and rule of law, as part of the process of the overall advancement in the entire Korean Peninsula will be explored by experts, which would be followed by the vehement discussion of seasoned policy makers from concerned states, including US, China, and Japan.

SESSION 2
Session 2 is supposed to delve into the subject of the regional and international cooperation in the actual achievement of the integration in the Korean Peninsula. Eminent experts from concerned states will present on how each and every country in this region, and the international community as a whole would work together, and contribute toward the successful unfolding of each phase of the integration of Korea.

SESSION 3
This session specifically deals with the issue of the post-integration of Korea. It is hoped that visions, perspectives, ideas, and strategies pertinent to the possible outcome of the Korean integration would be shaped, shared, and cherished by all the participants in this historic gathering.
